Automating routine manual processes can lead to increased workflow efficiencies – freeing up staff for higher value work, driving down costs, and boosting of revenue. At Transaction Banking Technology in Standard Chartered GBS India, the developers would normally spend 3 to 5 days in the manual processes required for Cyber Security Reviews (CSR) reviews which would bring down the overall efficiency of the team. Several processes such as extraction of security artefacts, creation of artefacts, security scanning of tools for every microservice were manually performed by the developers which was inefficient and could potentially cause a ripple effect that could impact service and the speed of response. To improve 'Speed to Delivery', the SCPay Engineering team developed a 'Cybersecurity Leader Board' that eliminates manual tasks leading to a TAT reduction from 5 days to 10 minutes.

Solution developed by the engineers at Transaction Banking Technology

The Cybersecurity and leaderboard will review all the security scan reports in a single place, leading to a significant reduction in manual effort and ensuring increased compliance with the Bank's security standards. The automated report generation tool resulted in reducing the manual efforts from 5 days to less than 10 minutes and reduced manual efforts from 4 resources to 1 fungible resource. The tool helped us to improve the (TAT) Turn Around Time of internal reviews of Security Impact Assessment (SIA) artefacts like AquaScan, AppScan, SonarQube, Nexus, Checkov, etc.
