In Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, we are bringing about a change by supporting communities, people and the environment. Along with NGO partners, we work on community initiatives such as:

Improving access to water, sanitation facilities
and Health and Hygiene education

Our global flagship community eye care programme tackles avoidable blindness by setting up vision centres in the most underserved rural and urban communities.

We have been instrumental in setting up 22 inclusive vision centres, covering a population of approximately 22 lakhs across 3 states of India. Our Urban Eye Health Programme addresses the specific eye care needs of the estimated population of 2 lakhs residing in the slum areas of Bengaluru and Chennai. The programme also tends to the eye care needs of the elderly, women, persons with disabilities, children, fishermen, garment factory workers, transgenders, daily wagers, street vendors, migrant workers, and other vulnerable groups.

Vision Centres

Through our Futuremakers programme, we undertake projects that have touched the lives of diverse communities, in both rural and urban locations in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Our projects empower the skill sets of marginalised women, differently challenged youth, and government school students to help them to aspire to become skilled with better employment opportunities and future ready.

Water Sanitation Hygiene Education (WASHE) is India’s flagship community investment programme that brings in Sustainable interventions that provide access to clean drinking water and better sanitation facilities, and is aimed at improving the health and hygiene education for adolescent girls in municipal schools, and disadvantaged communities at large.

The WASHE programme also aims at improving access to sanitation and water conservation systems ensuring environmental sustainability in the community. The project is implemented in Tamil Nadu impacting 30 communities, desilting 12 ponds in the target communities, and ensuring that 2350 households will have safe drinking water.

The programme also supports 20 government schools to develop a rainwater harvesting facility.
