How should financial health, mental health, and wellbeing be designed into financial products and services for young people?
Young Futuremakers Participant Sierra Lattuca talked of her imposter syndrome, Canan Dosl explained her troubles prioritising, and Ciara O Flynn shared the challenges of stepping outside the mould.
Rashvin Pal Singh, Group CEO, Me.reka, and Biji Biji, a serial entrepreneur, explained that it is particularly hard when setting up your own company: “Making that leap from a full-time job to entrepreneurship is a big leap. Most of us don't realise that fixed income is very solid. It's very safe. Entrepreneurship is often romanticised.”
During the Forum, young Futuremakers Participant Felix Zulu offered one way that banks could help young entrepreneurs pay back loans and support their financial health: “We've had challenges as a business, in the sense that we need finances to fund the app … I would like banks to tailor their repayment plan to suit the business model and cash flow of companies out there. This is going to encourage more companies run by youth to access financial services.”
